Mad for Plaid

Initially, my husband thought I bought this plaid/tartan dress that I wear during the Australia Day celebration weeks ago. Didn’t he realized that I made it using our Aussie Grandma’s extra tartan fabric that she gave last year to play with.

The design was inspired by the dress from the Shrimp collection, which has the US$600 priced tag. You’ll never saw me spending that match for a dress!

By combining two types of plaid/tartan prints, I made myself busy in my studio and play with these fabrics while watching the fashion tv series called Katy Keene. Have you watched that show?

Nevertheless, I’ll share my thoughts about it on my next blog!

Now here’s my final dress!

A dress made of tartan fabric is always a classic. It looks posh, and give that expensive look, and in my case, I don’t have to spend hundreds of Australian dollars for that.

The dress looks wonderfully comfortable and wearing this somehow attracts (good) attention. This autumn is a great occasion to wear more plaid outfits. Last autumn, I also made an upcycled plaid outfit in blue color, and I absolutely love it!

And if I want other tartan or plaid clothing, these are the pieces that I would love to add to my closet. If only I am skilled enough to create a tailored blazer!

What do you think of my tartan dress? Do you have any tartan/plaid print clothing in your closet?

  5. yeah, I would not spent that much for a dress either, even if I had it, unless it was an evening gown or a wedding dress (don't need one of those, I have been married for almost 30 years, lol). You did a great job, I wish I was that talented. Blessings!

    1. Thanks dear! I was looking for a yellow-shade of plaid to recreate Cher's iconic outfit from Clueless.
