Back in December 2021, Maria Grazia Chiuri released Christian Dior’s new pre-fall collection, a collection of layered in punkish tartans, biker shorts, jackets, and ties, and a rebellious take on school uniforms.
Nowadays, preppy fashion isn’t exclusive anymore.
I realized that I could somehow recreate this look within a small budget.
So, I headed to the Spotlight store in Traralgon to source for a fabric that is close enough to the original Christian Dior’s tartan print fabric.
The store doesn’t have the tartan fabric that I like, but I found a fleece fabric in yellow tartan print, which I reckon would be a nice material to make a jumper for this coming cooler months.
One meter of textile is enough for my size to create a good jumper. It is soft and fluffy, feels like a cloud that can warm your heart.
Together with other pieces of clothing already in my closet, I managed to recreate the look without spending my credit card, including my husband’s.
Here is the rundown of my budget look!
•Yellow fleece tartan print jumper that I made (fabric from Spotlight - $7 per meter, on special)
•White oversized men’s shirt that I got from the op-shopping gig, $4
•Black bikers short from Kmart, $12
•Black leather handbag that I also got from my favorite local op-shop Vinnies, $10
•And my black Doc Martens that my husband gifted me.
I’m happy to report that I succeeded in my goal!
Even managed to film content for my Tiktok!

ReplyDeleteI like yellow, coz instantly brightens my day. But I won't splurge on brand new luxury items. I would be so lucky if I found one from the charity shops.

DeleteI can make different clothes, but not with bags. Indeed, DIOR small purses are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove love your look! The outfit is very classy and fashionable :)
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this Dior outfit. I guess it must be the hit of the fashion week as it's also Heart E's most popular look to date. I'm just not sure I can handle fleece in Manila. Perhaps if I go to a colder place in the PH, it would suit better.
ReplyDeleteFleece gives cozy and warm, and definitely not a good fabric when you are in tropical area.
DeleteHehe....you totally bossed this one, Blair! You always do.
ReplyDeleteyou gave the fabric some justice! it looks really classy. I love it! plus, recycling clothes is a beneficial activity for environmental, social and economic reasons.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kat!
