That day when I found a bag of yellow chunky wool from the op shop, I knew exactly what I would make from it. The wool was so soft, warm, and very comfortable that’s why making another crochet cardigan for this colder season is a no-brainer.
I don’t know how many crochet cardigans I made so far, but I love making my hands busy. Also, I love saving that gorgeous wool from the op-shop and turning them into beautiful fashion pieces. I believe that I could never have too many cardigans, especially when I’m living in the southern hemisphere.
The rest of the wool was originally a crochet blanket that I found from another op shop. I unraveled them all and started crocheting using a simple double-stitch technique to simplify my work and make the wool more sturdy.

My cats love sitting next to me whenever I do my crocheting. They lay on top of my wool or slept underneath. Gladly, they never play with my wool or even destroy them. They are well-trained and behaved a lot. I am now maturing like a Grandma, and I don’t mind it.
The yellow dress was made from an old fitted sheet back in 2020, and it perfectly suits along with my new crochet cardigan. I love different shades of yellow because it instantly gives me a dopamine feeling and brightens up a gloomy day.
This pair of velvet gloves is a souvenir that I bought during our trip to Sovereign Hill Ballarat, and my pink wellies are something I got from Kmart Australia (in a kids' section!).
I’ve learned to adapt to this Victorian weather. Multilayering of clothes is a must, and having a reliable jacket or cardigan is a great investment for me to protect myself from this freezing cold. Wearing warm clothes makes me enjoy the gorgeous outdoors for a lovely morning walk or an afternoon stroll with my dog.
Now that it’s autumn season, expect that I will be spending time-saving old wool from local charity shops, and making more crochet clothes for myself.
And I’m not selling them, unfortunately. Maybe one day when it’s needed.
That really works. I tend to go for brown or red in autumn that a bit of yellow looks like a great idea. As you say yourself, a great way to brighten a gloomy day.
