The Style that Doesn’t Cost a Thing

The Style that Doesn’t Cost a Thing - Sustainable Fashion Australia
My journey in embracing and advocating sustainable fashion is somewhat personal - from the day I started appreciating secondhand clothes that my US-based Aunties send us every Christmas season, learning hand-sewing at the age of 10, to finally earning my wage and starting shopping from local ukay-ukay stores back in the Philippines.

Then I moved here to beautiful Australia, and guess what? My love for sustainable fashion has even gotten stronger than ever! I also found my true self; the feelings I’ve suppressed over the years are all out in the open, and I am grateful that I have a strong circle of support with my husband.

My style has evolved over the years, and with a lot of experience + online research, I am now on this journey with flying colors, and (almost full) room of pieces to play around.

Just like this OOTD, a mix of secondhand gifted pieces, and upcycled clothing I made through the years, it now visually creates a story of passion and patience, and if you are keen to learn more, perhaps you’ll find hints of secrets within.

Indeed, this style doesn’t cost me a thing. Well, perhaps costs me my time - yes!

Here’s today’s OOTD anatomy:

    * The patchwork jacket is from remnants of the dress I made years ago, inspired by the Miu Miu patchwork dress.

    * The dress and the skirt are gifts from my favorite old lady and workmate from a charity shop where I volunteer.

    * Added with this moss-green crochet bag I made, with a few blings that I bought from op shops.

    * Shoes and accessories are bought online (it doesn’t cost me a lot, from several online shops).

    * SMILE. That’s important, and it’s free!

I enjoyed layering my clothes because the Australian weather is so unpredictable, especially here in Victoria. This is a perfect opportunity to experiment with my styles and be more adventurous in mixing and matching my pieces.

Love thrifting? So I am!

On my next OOTD post, I’ll share a listicle of op shops, charity shops, and thrift stores in each state around Australia, so that you’ll experience the similar excitement I had in shopping for your next sustainable fashion piece.

Bisou, bisou!
