How to Make Christmas Gift Bags that No One Could Ever Resist

Christmas goodie bag ideas for adults, DIY Christmas bags, DIY Project

Hello Ladies!

Two more sleeping nights and it’s Christmas Day! OOOOO MMMMMMM GGGGGG!

How time flies to fucking fast!

Good thing I’ve done my Christmas preparations including shopping, sorting and wrapping gifts, and also the distribution to my awesome family and friends.

Christmas season is so much fun – and it is also very tedious season, and yet I still LOVE it! Like they always say, this season only happens once in a year so why not rock it and kick ass, right?!

While I was sorting the gifts and wrapping it one by one, I was also simultaneously taking some photos for this post, and finally I’m going to share you how to make a Christmas bag that no one will ever resist.

And why is that?

It’s because I’m sharing you something that is just not an ordinary Christmas bag – but a fabulous Christmas bag that your friends can still use again and again – or even save for the next Christmas and use it to wrap their gifts 2.0.

Here’s what you’ve need and actually a no-brainer:

You’re choice of fabric – but I’ve chose something a bit medium thick (usual the fabric that is used for curtaining). I was lucky enough to grab this Christmas printed fabric from Market Market mall.

I’ve bought 1 metre for only Php60.00. Good deal huh?!

Measuring tape, or if you don’t have – your kid’s ruler will do.

A pair of fabric scissor (not your kid’s paper scissor, I’m telling you it won’t give you that proper cut.

Needle and thread, and pins to secure the fabric

Optional:  fabric marker

So in this tutorial, let me disclosure to you that I’ve sewn these Christmas bags with my hands, because I still don’t have my own sewing machine. Thank God I wasn’t a sleepy-head student in grade school when my teacher taught us how to sew by hand, LOL. Kudos for her though.

But a hundred more applause for my Momma for allowing me to sew anything at home, well to the point I have to snag her curtain and turn it into my Barbie’s dress, LOL.

Ohhh deary – If Santa is listening and reading (or maybe mocking this post), please ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A BROTHER SEWING MACHINE, LOL

Yes and I’m not ashamed to say it that LOUD!

And IF Brother Philippines is reading this post, and wants to surprise me a sewing machine – then hell yeah! I definitely wouldn’t resist, baby!

(For the meantime, I’ve been thinking of getting an insurance for my hands, because these are too talented AF, LOL).

Lay down your fabric on a flat surface, and start measuring the fabric. For the body, I am cutting (1) one piece of fabric in 12inches x 20 inches, and (2) two pieces of fabric in 2inches x 20 inches as for my straps.

Then start sewing the edges!

This work will be much faster if you have a sewing machine! HUH, the sewing machine ohh please Santa!

Sew the all the sides and connect the corners to form the bag.

Do the same sewing to the straps to clean out the edges.

Sew the strap to the body, and make a cross stitching, to secure the straps.

Voila! My handmade Christmas Bag!

Making these bags made me so excited because it gives more personal touch to the receiver. I like personalizing my gifts and spending my time doing it. It gives more character and just some generic ones.

Wrapped your gifts with colored Japanese tissue paper, tied it with ribbons and place it inside your handmade Christmas bags.

The good thing about it is, they can reuse it for many times!

I made six (6) Christmas bags from a one (1) meter fabric that I’ve bought, and that’s amazing!

You can do the same procedure if you want a bigger bag. Be creative and explore possibilities!

When I gave these Christmas bags to my friends, they got soo delighted! Now they are requesting me to make a bigger bag for them, and even offered to provide me materials to do it, because they don’t know how to hand sew.

Now I became their little birdie, LOL

Hope this simple tutorial will help you this holiday season.

What more important is be all be happy and be thankful for whatever we have and don’t have.

xoxo, Blair

  15. I'm always trying to be creative with packing presents. But that mainly means that I'll try to 'hide' what it is. We often give each other DVDs. So then I pack it in a huge box, so you won't see it's a DVD haha. I love this christmas bag. It looks so great! I'll definitely keep this in mind for next year.
