Last Tuesday night, I visited the grocery store at SM Aura to grab a bottle of wine. Their wine section is quite impressive which sells affordable wine including our locally made wine.
Unlike my previous purchases, I decided not to go crazy (meaning buy the expensive wine) but this time I want to try the cheap wine that they have.
Anyway, I’m after about the experience, and having said that doesn’t mean having just the expensive bottles.
Though I’ve tried having rose and sangria in some restaurant’s I’m dined with, I haven’t tried buying the whole bottle for my own satisfaction. Like I’ve said before, I’m not your wine snob expert – I’m just a lady who loves to try and enjoy the wine available, so when I spotted these remaining bottles from Boones’s Farm, I immediately grabbed them and hand it over to the cashier for payment.
Is a $3.80 (Php190.00) wine considered a wine?
Many of us thinks that wine are one of those expensive drinks, and buying a cheap bottles isn’t a good idea. Well I have to test that theory.
Boone’s Farm Sangria
I haven’t tried Boone’s wine before, so I grabbed this perfect opportunity.
SIGHT: For some reason it’s lightly fizzy. It’s also an interesting shade of radioactive magenta, and a deep purple core. It reminds me of my previous favorite wine liptint.
SMELL: It’s a rather oddly smells orange (maybe they put lots of it). It’s quite bright, and little on the artificial strawberry side.
SIP: So that carbonation is tough to wrap ones head around, and the sugar is also very elevated. It taste like drinking an orange and grape soda, mix with a hint of strawberry. The acid is borderline unpleasant, and overall it doesn’t seem at all like wine, with only 7.5% of alcohol content, it’s like drinking an adult version of lemonade.
Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill
This demure bottle looks have a pale pink and smells mild enough, but it tastes like your strawberry soda, like those from Welch’s which for some heavy drinkers they will think this is just soda. However, since I’m not a heavy drinker – having a 7.5% of alcohol can give me little warm in my body, which is enough for me to enjoy a glass of it, just to enjoy for the night.Boones Strawberry Hill is mildly sweet, and perfect for beginners. I find it quite respectful, decent enough to enjoy.
Just like the Sangria, it lacks that wine volume that I am looking for.
Verdict:
Overall, it seems that Boone’s Farm Sangria is more of an orange-purple soda product than anything that could be considered wine, same with Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill.No wonder these two got a reputation among young millennials. It’s quite sugary and goes down easily.

I love this drink as well. Thanks for sharing the post
ReplyDeleteYeah, and it only have very low alcohol content. Great for cocktail parties or just your me-alone party!
DeleteNo Annie, I think she hates it. Unless she saying she like soda pop. No I don’t think she likes it
DeleteI wonder why many will assume that cheap wine is not as great as expensive wine. But anyway, I think I'd love these since drinks with citrus flavors like oranges are my favorite. As well, strawberry and apple flavors just appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteHahaha yeah I think most are those still in nouveau stage of learning wine. These selection are good, especially the daiquiri.
DeleteI'd give the sangria a try! I'm not into wine, but I probably would like it if it tasted like an orange purple soda.
ReplyDeleteSangria is good then for you, and the alcohol is too little.
DeleteThank you for this post. I will try!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting!
DeleteI don’t drink alchohol. Diet soda oddly enough is my go to when i want a treat.
ReplyDeleteFor wine versus soda, I'll go for wine coz its naturally fermented.
DeleteBig mistake Melissa. Turns out diet is just as bad for you, it’s not the chemicals that are bad for you as you might think it’s that they cause tooth decay at the same rate as sugared ones, and that’s the least of the problems. They trigger chemicals in the brain that dispose you to diabetes just like sugar. It’s I’m pretty sad discovery but you’re not beating anything you do better to just kind of lay off and drink water which actually is healthy for you in so many ways.
DeleteIt's long, i haven't had a good wine. Thanks for the suggestion, will surely try it out.
ReplyDeleteThis wine wont make you drunk :D
DeleteA nice honest review..would certainly help lovers of wine...
ReplyDeleteGod bless you
Thank you Krish!
DeleteSugary and wine might be the only way that I can enjoy wine. I like the sweet wines best.
ReplyDeleteThis only have a tolerable of sweetness.
DeleteSo these are popular for millennials. A must try cocktail during parties. I admit, I've never had Sangria before, this might be the first. :)
ReplyDeleteTry it, and don't worry coz the alcohol is very low. It is nice as occasional drink.
DeleteI love Sangria and I haven't had it for a long time! I've never tried this one, so I'm pretty excited to check it out. It will be definitely my choice for this weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteOh man Boone's Farm takes me WAY back! I have many memories with that Strawberry Hill!
ReplyDeleteOhh that is awesome! This brand is not popular here but I got so attracted coz its PINK!
DeleteOh my goodness! I haven't had Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill in eons! I used to love the stuff. It didn't hurt my wallet too badly and it was good for a quick buzz. Memories...
ReplyDeleteOhh that's awesome Laurie! I'm glad that I got to experience this.
DeleteI don't normally drink wine. Only when I'm on a fancy date. And even then I don't finish a glass. I guess my taste is more on the hard side. If I'm gonna put alcohol in my system might as well go all the way. It's all or nothing. Patron hits the spot all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love sipping down sangria now and then - but I have never heard of Boone. It's very hard to consider cheap wine as wine. My partner defiantly thinks that cheap wine is just juice in disguise - but as long as I can have fun with it, I think it's fine. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate both cheap and expensive. I occasionally enjoy a 5-figure champagne from time to time its also nice. But for only a very special day.
DeleteI think Me and friends will try this wine on our christmas gathering. thanks for the idea! :)
ReplyDeleteOh you should! And its good for photos :D
DeleteI would really love to try out this drink too~ time to organize a cocktail party!
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge YEY and its affordable.
DeleteOMG my first wine ever - Boone's Farm. Such a fun wine for a non wine drinker. So many memories are tied to Boone's Farm.

DeleteWe are soo late about this :D
I love Sangria. They are not an easy drink to make. Will look it up and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wanda!
DeleteI love it! So great for warm weather! Yummm!
ReplyDeleteTotally awesome, and a good way to unwind!
DeleteI agree that Boone's Farm is low on alcohol and high on sugar content, but I know several people who love it. Not really my choice, but a definite win with the younger crowd.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is a nice drink too. Budget-friendly.
DeleteWhat a cool post! This seems like a nice drink, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I do! I wonder if they still have other flavours. Currently, the local distributors only have 3-variants.
DeleteWow! I would like to have this too! Stress buster with it without alcohol is fine with me as long as it is chilled hehe
ReplyDeleteYup you can served it chilled!
DeleteI am a wine person and love to read new recommendations. I appreciate your honest review.
ReplyDeleteThank you Daria!
DeleteSugary and fruity wine is all you need, am I right?! I'd like the rosé and it's great it is low on alcohol.
ReplyDeleteNice way to unwind during the night.
DeleteI have never had this type of wine before but it looks like it would be amazing. That is also an amazing price!
ReplyDeleteYup, try the daiquiri or the rose variant!
DeleteI really love that it is not expensive because we tend to host some get togethers coming up this season. I could definitely provide drinks for everyone without spending a fortune.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Especially for a casual, candid parties mostly they don't care about the origins of the wines, unless you are hosting for a wine party.
DeleteThis wine is good, plus looks nice on photographs.
It sounds like a great drink if you are looking for something very sweet and low in alcohol content. However I'd like more wine volume like you.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah I like the vintage wine most. But for a quick and cheaper access, this will do.
DeleteI am right in the cusp of millennial, older side. I do prefer sweet wines that go down easy. This might be for me!
ReplyDeleteTry it dear! And would be a nice backdrop on photos :D
DeleteThe wine is so affordable, would love to try out Boones Strawberry Hill too as entry point. Thanks for sharing post!
