Review - FS Filipinana Lipstick in Maria Clara

FS Features& Shades lipstick collection, FS Filipinana Lipstick

My eyes always light up on the sights of lipsticks.

And I know many of you would agree. And I know few of you would disagree.

You see, I have this deeper definition and philosophy of wearing a lipstick – this simple cream in a tube gives many women a sense of power, strength and confidence to conquer the world. Observe your friends and colleagues around you and you will understand what I mean.

A woman who suffers a break-up looks horrible dull, but offer her that favorite shade of lipstick and you’ll see how magically her aura will transform. Or your officemate who is anxious to meet her most difficult client, and just a swipe of red lipstick you’ll see how instantly gives her 300% of confidence.

I don’t know how many lipsticks I have now under my beauty stash (well who’s counting?!) and I would never get tired buying and trying new lipsticks available near me. It’s one of my few favorites that doesn’t have complications, makes me happy and of course doesn’t ripped by bank account.
It was one afternoon at Market Market, when I decided to take a quick stop at their beauty section. I remember reading somewhere about this new FS Features& Shades lipstick collection inspired by Filipino women icons, called the Filipiniana collection and I got intrigue. I have that passion on promoting a product that embraces a local Filipino culture, and was glad to know that they have a small beauty kiosk at this floor.

FS Features & Shades Filipiniana in Maria Clare shade

The FS Filipiniana collection comes in 8 subtle natural-looking shades, namely after some of the fictional Filipino women icon – Sisa, Gabriela, Laura, Reyna Elena, Maganda, Maria Clara, Darna, and Dyesebel. Shades aren’t over-powering, and are suitable for many Filipinas mostly with brown complexion.

About the labels.
For many of you who doesn’t know them, allow me to give a quick introduction.

SISA – is a fictional character from the historical fictional book Noli Me Tangere. She is a loving and striving mother of two boys Crispin and Basilio, and got a mental breakdown in the story.

GABRIELA – is a Filipino revolutionary heroine who is a remarkable woman in the Philippine history. Born as Maria Josefa Gabriela Carino de Silang from Ilocos Su, is the first Filipina leader that aims to gain independence during the Spanish era.

LAURA – is a fictional lady from the Philippine literary book Florante at Laura, written by Francisco Balagtas during his imprisonment during the Spanish war era.

MARIA CLARA
-  A meztiza fictional heroine in the literary Philippine literary book Noli Me Tangere. Full name is Maria Clara de los Santos, her character symbolized the traditional ideal Filipina.

REYNA ELENA – a character derived to honor the finding of the True Cross by Helena of Constantinople, and Constantine the Great. In this day, you will see the Reyna Elena during the ritual pageant called “Santacruzan” held on the last day of the Flores de Mayo.

DARNA – a fictional superhero character, a counterpart of Supergirl in the Philippines.

DYESEBEL – another fictional mermaid character in the Philippine comic book.

MAGANDA
– a Filipino term which simply means “beautiful”

I decided to grab one shade so I could try it first before deciding if I will buy the whole collection of not. This Maria Clara creamy matte shade perfectly blends to my lip and face skin complexion! It is perfect for daily wear, and suitable for those women who are not fan of the overpowering shades of red.

The lady attendant was also glad to give me a sample of the Maganda shade, for FREE!

I tried it once, and didn't like the matte effect, though I like the color.

Aside from the emblem of the iconic Filipina lady on its red cover (see 1st photo above), the lipstick case comes with magnetic support for more protection of your lipstick.

This FS (Features & Shades) Filipiniana lipstick collection (4 grams) is priced at Php299.00 (approx. $6)

Verdict:
2018 seems a year for stronger and empowering women, and this is the beginning of new era that women learning of her self-worth and share her own voice, standing on her beliefs and principles, and making great actions to make this community dominated by men a more harmonious place to live.

In my opinion, this collection is a great idea and a good gift option for your lipstick-addict friends this coming holiday season, or a souvenir gift for your non-local guests!

And I wouldn’t mind getting the other 7-shades next time I visited their branch in Market! Market!
FS Features & Shades Filipiniana collection (Made in Taiwan) is distributed by Cosmetics Revelation Corporation based on Malabon City, Philippines.
