Review: ALTHEA KOREA Milk Peel Cream Mask

ALTHEA KOREA Milk Peel Cream Mask, ALTHEA Korea, korean facial mask

When we are attending a masquerade ball, we use a mask to hide ourselves and present a mysterious look to everyone.

But in a skincare industry, mask is something that we use to remove that unwanted agents that we’ve got due to many causes such us pollutions, fatigue, stress, etc.

That’s why I’ve been always love to try many face mask in the beauty market. It happens that the Korean beauty industry have tons of facial mask to choose from depends on my mood and of course skin chemistry and needs.

One of this is the latest facial peeling mask that landed on my mailbox few weeks ago. Our friends from the ALTHEA KOREA send me a complimentary bottle of their newest ALTHEA KOREA Milk Peel Cream Mask.

This milk peel facial cream, promises to give users a good exfoliating effect based on its whipped cream form, while whisking away dead skin cells to prevent flakiness. This milk peel cream also have casein protein from milk to revitalize and moisturize the skin resulting to a radiantly smooth, healthy skin.

The Milky Texture

The texture comes in an ecru-colored cream just like those many cream facial mask in the market, and when it applies to the skin it immediately turns into a whipped-cream texture to bubbly effect.
Don’t worry, it isn’t like the hydrogen peroxide that has a stingy effect. This milk peel facial mask, you would feel nothing except that you will feel a little tightening effect, indication that the product is doing its job on your skin.

Aside from the simple box, this cream is safeguard with a tight-capped container. You have to pump the cream out and apply immediately to your skin. When the cream is exposed, it starts to turn into a bubbly whipped cream, so never waste the cream.

How to use:
Pump the cream out and apply a thin layer to your face after your regular cleansing. Enjoy its bubbly effect for 5 minutes (although the instruction says 30-60secs, but I don’t usually follow their instruction) and then rinse your face. You will feel its smooth, tight and fresh looking effect.

The cream has an AHA and BHA that helps to exfoliate the skin.

What is AHA – Alpha Hydroxy Acid?
Alpha hydroxyl acids are a group of natural and synthetic ingredients that, when properly formulated, can exfoliate the uppermost layers of skin. Doing so reveals fresher, refined skin that appears much smoother, is more hydrated and over time, becomes visibly firmer. It also clears irregular pigmentation and age spots. Anyone concerned with looking younger, longer should consider adding an alpha hydroxyl product to their skincare routine. If you are concerned in slowing down the ageing process then using products with AHA is a wise idea.

There are many kinds of AHAs namely – glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, and mandelic acid.

The side effects of using products with AHA are mild irritation and sun sensibility. For that reason, the use of sunscreen lotion is a must.

How about BHA?
BHA – beta hydroxyl acid, more commonly known as salicylic acids. Because it is oil-soluble it can penetrate beneath the skin’s surface, cleaning out excess sebum from the pores and reducing oiliness. Products with BHA are best for acne-prone skin and those with deeper skin concerns. BHA loves oil that it can bypass that oil clogs and dissolve the mix of sebum and dead skin that leads to acne, as well as stabilize the lining of the pore (which contributes to acne). BHAs clear up blackheads, whiteheads, and have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

When buying a skincare product, make sure you choose one with AHA and BHA. Trust me this is better for your skin. Also this ALTHEA KOREA Milk Peel Face Mask would be a great addition to your beauty routine. I use it 3-times a week especially during night time.

Price: Php490.00 (50ml) – available at Althea Korea website.

Verdict:
This milk peel face mask is something that would be great addition to your vanity table. It is great to remove your dead skin cells, smoothen your skin and have a fresher look. Since it has both AHA and BHA, it is great to slow down your ageing process, refine your skin, and remove your skin pigmentation, plus the BHA would help you to prevent acne and pimples.

The only con I’ve noticed at this product is the packaging label that is only written in Hangul and no English translation which would be a huge confusion to many. You have to check the ALTHEA KOREA website for this product and check other information you needed.

Overall, this is a product that I love to use because of its good effect on my skin, plus my passionate love for face mask.

However, I wouldn’t dare you to bring this in your travel bag, especially when you are going out-of-the-country. I cannot guarantee that it would pass the custom check.

xoxo, Blair

  1. I always love to learn more about what is actually in skin masks. I feel like sometimes you feel inclined to buy something simply because it is just a name brand as opposed to actually being good for your skin. Great review!
