I Made a Crochet Rainbow-themed Jumper, and here's the result!

I always wanted to have a rainbow-colored piece of outfit since childhood but somehow, I never got one. Rainbow colors symbolize ‘happiness’ in me, giving many creative ideas the same feeling whenever I saw crayons, art materials, and anything that is colorful.

Colors give me life. And my life is truly colorful!

For the sake of satisfying my childhood dream, and to keep me busy this winter season, not to mention I need something that will keep me warm and look cute, I decided to use my crocheting skills at work and make my own rainbow-themed crochet jumper!

I wish I finished it earlier last month for Pride Month, however, it was put on hold for a week due to my recent trip to Cairns.

I wouldn’t be showing so many details of my crocheting coz there are more detailed crocheting tutorials available on Youtube, but I decided to just use the basic crocheting single and double stitching. No fuzz!

If my calendar is right, I started this project after an afternoon shopping trip (around the 5th of June) from Spotlight Traralgon and found this gorgeous rainbow acrylic wool that is perfect for my project.

rainbow colored acrylic wool

This whole bag (with 3 balls of acrylic wool, 100 grams each) costs $16.00 from Spotlight, and I grabbed 3 bags of them. Since this bag doesn’t have red shades on it, I used the old red acrylic wool I have at home.

Using the idea of a kimono pattern, I started crocheting the sleeves firsts and then work my way up to the rest of the pieces.

I have been religiously crocheting for 3 weeks and it's alright coz that’s the time the winter hits here in Victoria and it is so crazy cold to be outside. Except for that week when I am feeling so sick about it and decided to spend a week in Cairns to enjoy the tropics (the closest experience that I can have, now that I can’t still travel back to the Philippines).

After a week of a tropical vacation, I didn’t waste any time and got back to my crocheting project coz I don’t want that mojo to fly out.

Overall, I managed to consume 10 balls of acrylic wool (100 grams each).

Even my cat loves my jumper, and we always had an argument whenever her claws get stuck in them!

RESULT!

And here’s my rainbow-themed crocheted jumper!

Ohh my heart is leaping with joy after I finally finished it and started enjoying wearing it. Even my Australian Grandma is truly impressed with my work. She even suggested that I should make a few pieces and (maybe) sell them online.

Yeah maybe. I’ll consider it. But for now, I am so happy just having a bespoke jumper.

This is considered couture!

This jumper screams COLOR! The Winter season is an opportunity to wear bright colors.

This crocheted jumper gives me that warmth that I needed this winter, and I can wear it as a dress, or a coat!

I’m thinking of making another version in rainbow-paster color!

What do you think of this jumper? I would like to know your thoughts below.

Cheers!

  4. The rainbow-theme jumper looks fantabulous! I attempted to crochet a few times but ended up not finishing them. You should totally listen to Grandma, make a few and sell them online. I've seen some of your designs and they're impressive! Hope to see more.

    1. This crochet jumper is considered bespoke, and I calculated my total costs and this jumper basically worth over $2000 labor-costs is more expensive!
