As of this writing, the Gossip Girl reboot is now of its 6th episode and after watching (and watching from its pilot episode in case I missed something) this show still doesn’t compete nor can be compared to its predecessor.
I try my best to put an open mind, heart, and soul to understand this soapy drama, but still, the lingering feeling of Blair Waldorf strutting in her signature-styled school uniforms with her minions always haunt me (in a good way). Gossip Girl reboot is more woke and Gen-Z entitled upper-class high school students, who got more power than their Math teachers, a different generation compared from its original, but in my personal opinion – there should be a need to make a reboot. The OGs are still hot.
Not to mention that I find the Gossip Girl reboot creepy. Sexual predator teacher? A student bringing guns at school, including drinking and drugging whichever comes first.
For my Filipino readers out there, the newest Gossip Girl should be Rated-18. Not suitable for high-schoolers.
Honestly, I’m just watching this reboot just for their fashion. The product placement in this soapy drama is quite similar to the way rich kids in many K-dramas do it. I mean, in the name of fashion, who doesn’t love it?
In today’s blog, I would like to share with you the crochet piece that I made weeks ago, inspired by one of the Gossip Girl characters, Audrey Hope (a girl who is quite a predecessor of the OG Blair Waldorf, except Blair just like myself, believes in a monogamous relationship, and Audrey is blonde). The only similarities they shared are both characters love being in control, and they read books.
Gossip Girl, Audrey Hope
To recreate her cure striped knitted vest, I decided to crochet one using the available wools I have. Though I don’t have the exact color combination, I just used wools that have a closer shade for this look.
Anyway, it took me weeks to finish this vest because crocheting takes a lot of time, lol.
Watch my Tiktok video on how I made my version of Audrey Hope vest.

Having a white button-down shirt always comes in-handy. I used the oversized white button-down shirt that I got my the op shop, which also I used from my previous Gossip Girl Julien Calloway look.
This Audrey Hepburn coffee table book and handbag are both from an opportunity shop! No wonder visiting many op shops around Australia is an awesome shopping destination.
Gorgeous wildflowers. Soon, our lawnmower guy will get rid of you.
I wish that my high school uniform days were this cute because, IRL I will be ended up in the principal office trying to defend my fashion taste, LOL.
What do you think of this HS look? Should I make a similar vest in a different color? Let me know!

I agree with R-18 rating for PH. I am a big fan of the original GG but this new one is not bad for me. It gets too over the top if I watch continuously in a day. Lol! True it is so diff and so Gen Z. I am a milennial but I will still watch it haha! I super love the vest you made! I really like to try to imitate Audrey's style, too! Wish I can pull it off as good as you!
ReplyDeleteThe new GG is cater for the new woke generation. It was OK but doesn't truly sink-in unlike the original GG. Like I've said, I'm just here for their fashion, lol
DeleteYou nailed it again! It looks so comfy and young, perfect for any casual day outs.
ReplyDeleteI'll styled it again using my other pieces, yung pang casual look naman.
DeleteYup, I'll look forward to that post. By the way, I like your shot of the wildflowers. Galing, you wouldn't think na ang liliit lang.
DeleteOMG! You nailed that outfit. You beautifully recreated it! It looks good on you pa. Super love the vest :D I'll go for an earthy color for the vest if you'll create more.
ReplyDeleteThank, Miss Khae! I'll make another one in sorbet colors naman.
DeleteIt is really indeed a good look for a school uniform. I admire your knitting skills. I hope one day I'll learn the craft.
ReplyDeleteKatas ng lockdown!
DeleteYou slayed that DIY crochet vest! Looks good on you. Looks comfy pa and parang perfect for schooling siya lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, my stepdaughter said this style can be worn in their school.

ReplyDeleteHey, you should crochet your own vest too!

Deleteyoou nailed it as audrey hope! i havent watched this parang wala pa ako mapanooran. im not so updated with it nga din. baka di ko pa kaya HAHAHAHAHHA!!! but is it nice din? and audrey ba is blair?
ReplyDeleteAudrey Hope and Blair Waldorf shares some few interests, but Blair got her Dorota with her. Audrey Hope got a problematic Mother.
DeleteLove your look! How awesome you could create a vest like that. I remember the dresses you made before. About the show, they are trying to keep up with the times. I can't dig that and I am really avoiding all these woke initiatives. unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteI felt so old tita while watching the new GG, lol
DeleteI can't relate to Gossip Girl cause I haven't watch it though I love your style! It looks good to you and I like the shoes!!!

DeleteI loved it. and it's so cool that you made it yourself. This is inspiring for people like me who would want to level up their fashion styles
ReplyDeleteI felt that creating my own clothes makes its more valuable for myself.

ReplyDeleteAs for the new Gossip Girl.. Honestly, i do prefer the originak version haha Blake Lively was my ultimate crush when i was in college.. Whew
Blake Lively seems had found her fountain of youth!
DeleteWow, you definitely nailed it and you look absolutely gorgeous as well. Totally loving the outfit and it's awesome that you crocheted that vest yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lyanna. This is made with so much LOVE.
DeleteI haven't watched this go-round of Gossip Girl but the characters always have cutting edge style. It's great that you have come up with your own version of the Gossip Girl style!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward for its next season and hope it is better than Season 1.
DeleteI'm not familiar with the show, but I like what you have done with the look. One of my teenagers is really into crocheting- she has made items like this.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Crocheting is not a grandma's only crafts anymore. Many high fashion label specializes on knitting and crochet pieces, and it is getting bigger.
DeleteHaving a white oversized blouse is for sure a good wardrobe staple. The look here is very cute.
ReplyDeleteThank dear! I'm glad I found that shirt from a charity store.
