I love Disney, so I made a Mickey Mouse Jumper from scratch

DIY Disney Mickey Mouse jumper co-ords
Like many of you out there, I am a self-confessed Disney baby.

I’m a thirty-something adult and still enjoy the company of watching old Disney movies and singing too many Disney animated theme songs in my head (coz my voice is terrible).

The recent 20th anniversary celebration of Tokyo DisneySea traveled me back two years ago during the first time I visited, and it feels like yesterday, all the memories are so beautiful (well, except for the long queues) and exciting. Definitely, I would love to come back! Or maybe visit the other Disney attraction here in Asia… maybe Hong Kong Disneyland?!

Just to feed my Disney feelings, I decided to use my sewing skills into action and create my own Mickey Mouse jumper co-ords, as part of my Spring/Summer capsule collection.
Getting a brand-new Disney Mickey Mouse merch is always expensive, which motivates me to create my own!

Using the fleece fabric that I recently sourced from my favorite op shop, I devise my plan.

MATERIALS:
1.5 meters of fleece fabric, which I got from the op-shop here
An old kid’s jumper with Mickey Mouse image. I got this for free when my neighbor giveaway her kids' clothes.
Some elastic band
Measuring tape
Paper pattern for my jumper and shorts
Sewing machine
Lots of patience!

I made my own pattern using old newspapers, and I follow the pattern of my old jumper that fits me well.

The jumper co-ords is style on the trend, part of the growing athleisure, or baddie aesthetics. Besides the fact that the weather here in Victoria suits this style of clothing.

You can watch my short TIKTOK video here for some DIY sewing action!

… and here is the final look!

The result looks pretty good and comfortable, perfect for the spring season.

I am thinking of making another pair using the fabric remnants that I’ve got. The fabric remnants from that kid’s jumper will be used for another upcycling project.

What do you think of this look?

Until the next DIY project!
