Things to do, and where to stay in Rome, Italy
With Australia finally opening its international borders, Italy is one of the top ideal travel destinations for many Australians. In the line with these amazing changes after a very long travel hiatus, we give you Rome Italy as one of the top places you shouldn’t miss in Italy.

Dreaming of your own Roman Holiday?

The capital city of Rome is Italy’s masterwork. You can marvel at the Colosseum, Vatican City, and Roman Forum with just 48-hours in the city, thanks to a UNESCO-listed historic center with a roll call of millennia-old ruins and soaring domes.

Away from the well-worn paths, Rome has plenty of surprises up its sleeve. Dive into tangled medieval neighborhoods like Trastevere for narrow trattoria-lined streets and hidden chapels.

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, the city changes. An ever-changing flow of new restaurants, art exhibitions, and festivals means that there’s always an excuse to revisit Rome.

PANTHEON – Rome’s pantheon is a true architectural wonder. Its impressive dome was originally constructed in 27 AD.

THE VATICAN – No visit to Rome is complete without seeing the smallest state. Its museums are home to the world’s greatest art.

SPANISH STEPS – These 135 steps are known around the world for their majesty and beauty and are the perfect place to take a seat and enjoy a gelato (ala Audrey Hepburn in the movie, Roman Holiday).

DISCOVER ROME:

TRASTEVERE – Take a trip across the river to this lively neighborhood with an authentic feel and family-run pizzerias.

AVENTINE KEYHOLE – Head to Aventine Hill for a unique viewpoint of the city, and a tiny keyhole perfectly frames St. Peter’s Basilica.

SAN GIANICOLO – Rome’s highest hill has fantastic panoramas over the city with bars open during the summer.

VILLA BORGHESE GARDENS – These large gardens in central Rome are the perfect spot for a picnic during summer and admire the elegant villas on the grounds.

BATHS OF CARACALLA – These are some of the best-preserved buildings of ancient Rome and were once the city’s second-largest public baths.

CAPUCHIN CRYPT – The home to the mummified Capuchin Monks, is one of the spookiest places in Rome. A series of chapels artfully mosaicked with bones and skulls of several thousand deceased Capuchin monks covering ceilings and walls of the four chapels.

  7. I've been to Rome many times and it doesn't get old - which is ironic considering Rome's glorious past :-D When I was there last year, there were basically no people around the Trevi fountain - the upside of a pandemic ;-)
