2018 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide

2018 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide

Meituan-Dianping, China's largest service-focused e-commerce platform, today launched its first Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, an ultimate list of quality restaurants, each selected from a unique Chinese perspective. The inaugural edition highlights a total of 330 restaurants in 22 Chinese cities and five overseas cities, namely, Bangkok, New York, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo.

Restaurants selected by the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide are put through a vigorous critiquing process by a team consisting of master chefs, culinary experts, special advisors with long-standing expertise in China's dining sector, and gourmets identified by big data analytics from the Company's one-stop local dining and lifestyle service platform.

The Guide fully reflects the nation's unique culinary preferences.

The selection process is overseen by accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers Zhong Tian LLP, with selected restaurants awarded with one to three diamonds:

One diamond: Great for family/friends gathering.

Two diamonds: Perfect for special occasions.

Three diamonds: Must visit once in a lifetime.

Mr. Xing Wang, CEO of Meituan-Dianping, stated: "Chinese cuisine is an important part of the country's culture and the unique and sophisticated gastronomy landscape in China represents one of the richest and most diverse culinary heritages in the world. In response to Chinese consumers' evolving taste for traditional and modern cuisines in China and across the world, we are excited to introduce the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide from a unique Chinese perspective, showcasing the dynamic dining scene both in China and globally. We are grateful that our leading position and exclusive resources in the dining industry have enabled us to do so."

  2. This guide will certainly come in handy for those who go to China / Hong Kong or Macau. I usually only eat street food or fast food when travelling.

    1. Hahaha me and my Amore too! Yeah we eat at high street to 5-star restaurants, then suddenly switch to getting street food. Luckily I don't have issues with my stomach.
