When was the last time you spend time inside a clothing store’s fitting room and just enjoy your alone time – and having fun?
I love shopping, and I always treat it as my cardio exercise, which helps to strengthen my leg muscles (by walking back and front) and for my arms down to my butt (due to caring for those shopping bags). But I admit that it’s been a while since I spend my time inside the fitting room, and just enjoying the moment.
So while am waiting for my new lenses upgrade at EO Eye Center (where I’ve bought my first reading glasses, and now it’s time for an upgrade) I decided to visit these two clothing stores inside SM Aura, and I have at least an hour to spend!
For years, I’ve learned to become a wise shopper and successfully avoided becoming very impulsive to my purchases, especially on clothing. So having these free fitting services is such a huge help for me, and believe me, I do take my time when I am in the mood for clothes shopping.
However, I am not in the mood for actual shopping – but only for a fitting room experience.
UNIQLO at SM Aura
It’s been a while since I visited this store ever since my good friend, Mickey decided to leave the company and pursue his adventure to Seiko (he is the former boss of Uniqlo Philippines, and as a friend, I strongly support him in his decision to take the challenging work at Seiko, and I’m happy that he found his new ikigai). For years I’ve been a loyal shopper of this brand, but recently I missed shopping here because I don't have that need (yet).
But I admit that Uniqlo’s fitting rooms are one of the good places to hang out! The lights are perfect and have this huge full mirrors, and more spacious than other clothing stores. I think this store has also invested in this area because fitting rooms affect the shoppers’ decision to purchase, or not.
For this summer collection, I’ve found this dark blue dress with adjustable thin straps, and you can opt to hide the straps inside and wear it as a tube dress.
I also found this floral and leafy version, which I think is also pretty. Both compliments to my Tatak Pitak straw bag.
Who says olive green isn’t cool? I love all the shades of green and I think this sleeveless olive green romper is also lovely. I like the fabrics that they’ve used and how comfortable it is with my skin, perfect for the outdoor. I like this dress coz it also fits perfectly and accentuates my amazing curves, but the only challenge is when you need to pee, you need to be in a secured comfort room, and take it all off, LOL.
Oh BTW, Uniqlo will soon open its UNIQLO Philippines flagship store, something that I've predicted 5-years ago since its first launched in Manila. It will be the biggest UNIQLO flagship store in Southeast Asia, located at Ayala Avenue, Makati City (next to SM Makati).

Forever21, SM Aura
Then I went to its neighbor store Forever21. I found these three dresses which scream SUMMERTIME.
One thing I am not pleased with this store is how they installed their fitting rooms. It is very tiny and not spacious, plus there’s an elevated space on that door (as you can see in this picture) I find it not too secured. Their fitting rooms are quite discouraging, making me feel that I would just have a quickie for these clothes, then go. Ugh, I hate it.
I love eye-catchy colors, and this yellow wrapped dress inspired by Dianne von Furstenberg looks alluring, adding this sexy slit. The neckline is also enticing perfectly fits my breast, which looks tasteful enough.
Inspired by the early Greeks or Roman women, this dress looks alluring and I like the story it shows my backside. The fabric is very comfortable perfect for this high heat of summer. The earthy tone gives a positive appeal to the wearer who loves nature most.
Recently I’ve grown a love affair for rompers, and this one seems to make the cut. Although the fabric is quite thicker than the rest, it is perfect just in case you wear it in a place with unpredictable weather. I like the earthy stripes and the button-down front which you may choose to wear with the unbuttoned look or have a demure appeal. Also a good dress coz it accentuates my perfect curves.
Yeah, each time I’m in a fitting room I make sure I will enjoy that moment. Having that childhood feeling is very important, it makes us forever young at heart, and motivates us to be more creative. And yeah, if the music played is so good, I danced with it (also to test the dresses for its comfortability).
I’m also glad that I have my good Huawei P9 that helps me to capture my experience, and never fails me.
Did I end up purchasing them?
No. Because it wasn’t on my agenda, I was just playing! hahaha
But I thank you for having this moment coz I gained ideas for my upcoming sewing projects. Yehey!
What are your fitting room stories?
xoxo, Blair
I really enjoyed this post. Fitting rooms can be a task of their own. Love your tips!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tasheena! I enjoyed playing inside the fitting rooms :)
DeleteWhat an interesting point of view! I never thought of 'fitting room time" as "me time", but you are very right, it can be! As long as you don't have a huge queue lining up outside ;)
ReplyDeleteQueue gives me stress!
DeleteI tried it and came back to report :) As long as you get in there with the right mindset, meaning " yes, this will be my me-time and I'm gonna take my time and make the most of it" it can indeed be very relaxing! woohoo! Yes, unless there's a queue, luckily this time there was not one ;)
DeleteInteresting post. This is. different point of view. I just want to be in And out of the fitting room. I usually feel claustrophobic. Lol. love all the look!
ReplyDeleteI'm just lucky that the store wasn't crowded because I hate that.
DeleteI have been wanting to go out and spend a day shopping for myself. That hasn't happened recently or in quite a long time actually. I would love to get some rompers and jumpers for the hot summer to come.
ReplyDeleteI like their newest collection, but I'm not feeling to buy them coz I can sew my own!
DeleteI actually hate going to stores to shop. The mirrors are always weird, the space is too small, and I always end up being stressed out. I love to order online and try on in the comfort of my own home.
ReplyDeleteThat is also true. I don't like crowded stores as well, and seeing many creased clothes.
DeleteI have to admit that it has been a while since I have had a fitting room experience as all of the clothes I get are normally sent to me in the mail. But I admit there is something fun about trying on lots of clothes in a changing room either by yourself or with a friend!
ReplyDeleteYeah that is true, especially when I did this experience at this one luxury shop, and they gave us free champagne!
DeleteLove the positive spin to what can be quite a stressful moment as you try on clothes! That olive green outfit looked great on you as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sophie!
DeleteHa, ha for me the fitting room is the most intimate area of a store ! In that tiny room, it's just you and the mirror... Thanks for sharing your tips on how to get in and out of the fitting room without having a mental breakdown ;-)
ReplyDeleteTiming is the key. I never visit the store during weekend, lots of shoppers and its crazy.
Deletewow thats interesting. I cant have this time, as my daughter will follow me where i am
ReplyDeleteyeah, I think better to shop online :D
DeleteLucky you to have found somewhere to pay dress up. I haven't got that secret hideaway yet. Every place I go, I am pressured to just try and buy (or not). I don't feel too comfy staying inside for long.
ReplyDeleteOh if there are no lines and very few people, then I love to stay inside!
DeleteI was just thinking of doing this the other day! Just head into the fitting room to have fun and selfie with TikTok ahahha
ReplyDeleteOMG you should try it babe! I recently discovered Tik Tok from WeChat and I'm enjoying it.. although I heard this app is famous for kids and teens, hahaha its okay I'll take wholesome videos!
DeleteSo great... Can enjoy fitting room like this ya.. haha~~ That's super nice point of view.. let's have our 'me' time!
ReplyDeleteHigh five on that!
DeleteWell hope I could try to do this is some luxury store I frequently visits, hahaaha
loved the dresses you tried on so summery and vibrant.and you are so right this fitting room is so good and indeed will affect the buying decision in a positive way .you bag is just too good.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear! Fitting room should be spacious and have well light. And should have huge mirror (like those in Uniqlo), to make clients feel good about themselves and buy a lot. (but I was determined not to buy and only play)
DeleteWow! You fitted all that and didn't buy anything? hihi I shop like a man. I go to what I need, try it on, if it fits my body and my body, I buy haha
ReplyDeleteLOL I know!!!!
DeleteHAHAHA..WAH SO ENJOY AT FITTING ROOM..NEVER THOUGHT CAN BE FUN AT FITTING ROOM LIKE THIS..HEHEE..
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAAHAHAHA
DeleteI've never really thought about having so much fun like taking selfies and photos in the fitting room since I usually look at the mirror for an eternity! But I love Uniqlo and I'd even take some boomerang videos over there. I see...new ideas loading...
ReplyDeleteHahaha cool right?! Do you know any stores who have awesome fitting rooms?
DeleteI never thought about doing this before. But trying on clothes is really fun! I think it's definitely a great way to make shopping even more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and its good to do it alone and not with our boyfriend or husband coz its pity that they just have to wait.
Deletei love your different point of view and perspective. i never really gave much thought to fitting room sessions equivalent to time for myself to relax or me time in other words, haha. thank you for sharing your words.
ReplyDeleteMaybe soon you can share yours as well!
DeleteWowww, shopping as cardio exercise. I like that part, haha. Now i have better reason to go for shopping haha
ReplyDeleteIt helps to strengthen my arm muscles, hahaha
DeleteOh wow the Uniqlo fitting rooms look massive. I'm always so stressed when a fitting room is so compact that it doesnt allow you to really move around and test whether you like how a particular piece looks before buying it.
ReplyDeleteYeah this is what I like about Uniqlo. Other fast fashion brands have small fitting rooms like this at Forever21. It seems it is intended for a quickie fitting, just come, fit and go.
DeleteYou have natural style, thankfully I don't have to shop often as my wardrobe is pretty simple. I don't care for shopping all day.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I agree, its been awhile since I did my shopping haul. Recently I tend to downsize it and learned to recycle my clothes, which helps me to save a lot.
DeleteFitting rooms can be a fickle creature. I too like large spacious fitting rooms, however I perfer an actual door vs just a curtain... I don't feel a curtain offers up much privacy. By they way that olive green romper looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteYeah, looks cute :D
DeleteYe are indeed like women who love style and posse in front of the mirror. It should be noted that the house has a large mirror in the fitting room...
ReplyDeleteYeah you should install a huge mirror in your home. IT will help to look good ambiance inside :D
DeleteLooks like you had a really good time in that dressing room! I've never thought much about it, in fact, I'm guilty of just buying stuff and trying them at home!
ReplyDeleteYeah I did that before, but I switch a different buying technique. Anyway, many shops appreciates that someone tries their clothes, it makes the shop look more crowded!
DeleteLooks like you had an amazing time shopping. And you look absolutely fabulous in all of your photos. I know my daughter loves trying things out like this. I do agree the romper is a kind of a fun look and you make it work well.
ReplyDeleteThanks David! Let your daughter enjoy the fitting room :D
DeleteYou look beautiful with all the outfit, and enjoy to tray all the beautiful dress
ReplyDeleteThank you Halimah :D
DeleteWow I would never thought of enjoying a fitting room, but after reading it, it makes perfect sense. Why not. Life is short we should catch every moment and enjoy it. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteThank you for appreciating my post!
DeleteI love your style, all the looks you tried on were perfect. For me fave has to be that bag of yours.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you! That bag is special, locally made :D
DeleteFitting Room is a great place for shopaholic!!! Can't get bored over there...you must enjoyed your shopping time!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed my time just fitting, but not buying :D
DeleteI like the yellow floral dress. Now guys know why girl takes so long in the fitting room I guess.
ReplyDeleteI spilled the beans!
DeleteWhat a unique post! You're so right. Many people don't enjoy the fitting room experience because it can be critical. But it's important to make it fun and love your body! I love all your outfits shared especially the red striped romper!
ReplyDeleteThat red-striped romper can be buttoned-up or just leave it like that.
DeleteOmg the rattan bag is so cute! Been wanted to look one for myself, but it was so expensive. For me, I am such a lazy girl to try clothes in fitting room. Hence I shop alot online XD
ReplyDeleteHahaha yeah shopping online is also cool! Especially when its time to unbox them all :D
DeleteWhat a great idea, I hardly take any photos unless I am undecided if I want to purchase a dress and then send a photo to my husband. You look great in all the outfits.
ReplyDeletewww.yeahlifestyle.com
Oh I did that too! When I'm already decided to buy it, I also send photos to my Amore :D
DeleteThis is a lovely idea, I like the thought of enjoying the fitting room experience, it's a great idea to take pics too.
ReplyDeleteYeah!
DeleteHave you tried the fitting room in some luxury stores? They even offer you free champagne!
Wow.. this really sounds like fun.. and it never occurred to me that one could really try different dresses..click cool pictures and even walk out without buying them.. :).. such a fun thing to do..
ReplyDeleteOf course it is allowed :D Enjoy the clothes and experience it!
DeleteYou definitely nailed your fitting room mirror shot. All those dresses looks good on you. -Chuck
ReplyDeleteThank you Chuck!
DeleteBeautiful dresses! Uniqlo is a great brand. Looking great!
ReplyDeleteThat is true. Between the two brands, I'd chose UNIQLO over the other, coz it lasts longer in my closet.
DeleteThis is so much fun! Love the looks! I haven't been in a fitting room in ages. I do most of my shopping online. But it's always fun to actually go and try things on as well. Will have to do a little shopping soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been lazy doing store shopping recently because of over crowding. I've only visit the shop to scan the dresses and get insider scoop about the newest collection (while I'm waiting for someone) and check the store facility, if it is conducive.
