How to Enjoy the Fitting Room Experience

How to Enjoy the Fitting Room Experience

When was the last time you spend time inside a clothing store’s fitting room and just enjoy your alone time – and having fun?

I love shopping, and I always treat it as my cardio exercise, which helps to strengthen my leg muscles (by walking back and front) and for my arms down to my butt (due to caring for those shopping bags). But I admit that it’s been a while since I spend my time inside the fitting room, and just enjoying the moment.

So while am waiting for my new lenses upgrade at EO Eye Center (where I’ve bought my first reading glasses, and now it’s time for an upgrade) I decided to visit these two clothing stores inside SM Aura, and I have at least an hour to spend!

For years, I’ve learned to become a wise shopper and successfully avoided becoming very impulsive to my purchases, especially on clothing. So having these free fitting services is such a huge help for me, and believe me, I do take my time when I am in the mood for clothes shopping.

However, I am not in the mood for actual shopping – but only for a fitting room experience.

UNIQLO at SM Aura

How to Enjoy the Fitting Room Experience

It’s been a while since I visited this store ever since my good friend, Mickey decided to leave the company and pursue his adventure to Seiko (he is the former boss of Uniqlo Philippines, and as a friend, I strongly support him in his decision to take the challenging work at Seiko, and I’m happy that he found his new ikigai). For years I’ve been a loyal shopper of this brand, but recently I missed shopping here because I don't have that need (yet).

But I admit that Uniqlo’s fitting rooms are one of the good places to hang out! The lights are perfect and have this huge full mirrors, and more spacious than other clothing stores. I think this store has also invested in this area because fitting rooms affect the shoppers’ decision to purchase, or not.
For this summer collection, I’ve found this dark blue dress with adjustable thin straps, and you can opt to hide the straps inside and wear it as a tube dress.

I also found this floral and leafy version, which I think is also pretty. Both compliments to my Tatak Pitak straw bag.

Who says olive green isn’t cool? I love all the shades of green and I think this sleeveless olive green romper is also lovely. I like the fabrics that they’ve used and how comfortable it is with my skin, perfect for the outdoor. I like this dress coz it also fits perfectly and accentuates my amazing curves, but the only challenge is when you need to pee, you need to be in a secured comfort room, and take it all off, LOL.

Oh BTW, Uniqlo will soon open its UNIQLO Philippines flagship store, something that I've predicted 5-years ago since its first launched in Manila. It will be the biggest UNIQLO flagship store in Southeast Asia, located at Ayala Avenue, Makati City (next to SM Makati).

Forever21, SM Aura

Then I went to its neighbor store Forever21. I found these three dresses which scream SUMMERTIME.

One thing I am not pleased with this store is how they installed their fitting rooms. It is very tiny and not spacious, plus there’s an elevated space on that door (as you can see in this picture) I find it not too secured. Their fitting rooms are quite discouraging, making me feel that I would just have a quickie for these clothes, then go. Ugh, I hate it.

I love eye-catchy colors, and this yellow wrapped dress inspired by Dianne von Furstenberg looks alluring, adding this sexy slit. The neckline is also enticing perfectly fits my breast, which looks tasteful enough.

How to Enjoy the Fitting Room Experience
Inspired by the early Greeks or Roman women, this dress looks alluring and I like the story it shows my backside. The fabric is very comfortable perfect for this high heat of summer. The earthy tone gives a positive appeal to the wearer who loves nature most.

How to Enjoy the Fitting Room Experience

Recently I’ve grown a love affair for rompers, and this one seems to make the cut. Although the fabric is quite thicker than the rest, it is perfect just in case you wear it in a place with unpredictable weather. I like the earthy stripes and the button-down front which you may choose to wear with the unbuttoned look or have a demure appeal. Also a good dress coz it accentuates my perfect curves.

Yeah, each time I’m in a fitting room I make sure I will enjoy that moment. Having that childhood feeling is very important, it makes us forever young at heart, and motivates us to be more creative. And yeah, if the music played is so good, I danced with it (also to test the dresses for its comfortability).

I’m also glad that I have my good Huawei P9 that helps me to capture my experience, and never fails me.

Did I end up purchasing them?

No. Because it wasn’t on my agenda, I was just playing! hahaha

But I thank you for having this moment coz I gained ideas for my upcoming sewing projects. Yehey!

What are your fitting room stories?

xoxo, Blair

  2. What an interesting point of view! I never thought of 'fitting room time" as "me time", but you are very right, it can be! As long as you don't have a huge queue lining up outside ;)

    1. I tried it and came back to report :) As long as you get in there with the right mindset, meaning " yes, this will be my me-time and I'm gonna take my time and make the most of it" it can indeed be very relaxing! woohoo! Yes, unless there's a queue, luckily this time there was not one ;)

  5. I actually hate going to stores to shop. The mirrors are always weird, the space is too small, and I always end up being stressed out. I love to order online and try on in the comfort of my own home.

    1. That is also true. I don't like crowded stores as well, and seeing many creased clothes.

  6. I have to admit that it has been a while since I have had a fitting room experience as all of the clothes I get are normally sent to me in the mail. But I admit there is something fun about trying on lots of clothes in a changing room either by yourself or with a friend!

  8. Ha, ha for me the fitting room is the most intimate area of a store ! In that tiny room, it's just you and the mirror... Thanks for sharing your tips on how to get in and out of the fitting room without having a mental breakdown ;-)

  10. Lucky you to have found somewhere to pay dress up. I haven't got that secret hideaway yet. Every place I go, I am pressured to just try and buy (or not). I don't feel too comfy staying inside for long.

    1. Thank you dear! Fitting room should be spacious and have well light. And should have huge mirror (like those in Uniqlo), to make clients feel good about themselves and buy a lot. (but I was determined not to buy and only play)

  14. Wow! You fitted all that and didn't buy anything? hihi I shop like a man. I go to what I need, try it on, if it fits my body and my body, I buy haha

  19. Wowww, shopping as cardio exercise. I like that part, haha. Now i have better reason to go for shopping haha

  20. Oh wow the Uniqlo fitting rooms look massive. I'm always so stressed when a fitting room is so compact that it doesnt allow you to really move around and test whether you like how a particular piece looks before buying it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah this is what I like about Uniqlo. Other fast fashion brands have small fitting rooms like this at Forever21. It seems it is intended for a quickie fitting, just come, fit and go.

  21. You have natural style, thankfully I don't have to shop often as my wardrobe is pretty simple. I don't care for shopping all day.

  22. Fitting rooms can be a fickle creature. I too like large spacious fitting rooms, however I perfer an actual door vs just a curtain... I don't feel a curtain offers up much privacy. By they way that olive green romper looks adorable!

  23. Ye are indeed like women who love style and posse in front of the mirror. It should be noted that the house has a large mirror in the fitting room...
