Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Petal Velvet Powder

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Petal Velvet Powder

Of all the skincare products that I have, one of my most favorite aside from moisturizer + toner, is a good and reliable sunscreen lotion. Such a huge fan of it, which I can consume faster than my body moisturizer.

So when our friends from ALTHEA KOREA sent me this little gift, I was curious and intrigue if this new sunscreen lotion would be a hit (or miss) based on my daily usage.

This new ALTHEA Petal Velvet Sunaway Sunscreen with SPF 50+ PA++++ promises a moisture-filled sebum control sunscreen lotion. I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now and I find that this sunscreen could be staying for good in my vanity, and in my daily work handbag.

The content comes in a white, light-cream solution that smells like a powdery-rose. The solution is quite easily to spread and blend in my skin in just 3-seconds and absorbs well, without the feeling of stickiness or oiliness. The powdery-rose scent is also mild and sometimes you won’t noticed the scent, which is perfect to apply on your face and neck. I also generously apply this to my hand which are also more exposed to sunlight.

Can you apply this to the rest of your body? YES!

Though I prefer to use my other sunscreen lotion to the rest of my body, and only use the ALTHEA Petal Velvet Sunaway on my face, neck and hands due to limited supply!

Another thing that I love about this sunscreen is the way they packaged it. The tip of the container is quite similar to the sunscreen I reviewed (link here).

Before using this, its better that you shake it well first, because sometimes it separates the watery solution to the creamy ones.

I apply this on my face every day, twice a day and so far I haven’t experienced or noticed any oiliness on my face. I haven’t experienced itchiness either.

But I still recommend that you test it first on your hand, just a precaution in case you have sensitive skin and have allergies to some sunscreen lotion.

Damask Rose is the main ingredients of this new ALTHEA Petal Velvet Sunaway sunscreen lotion, which gives its rosy smell and velvety texture after applying to the skin. Some sunscreen lotion makes me skin dry or super oily, but this one doesn’t.

A little trivia about this little pinkish beauty – beyond being known for its heady fragrance, the Damask rose has long been used for rose oil or ‘attar of roses’, and is commonly used to flavour food and make rose water (link here). Recent research that damask rose essential oil has highlighted its antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-microbial activities. The deciduous scrub can grow to more than two metres tall, with 30-petalled flowers that can range in color from light pink to light red. It is repeat flowering, making it particularly popular with the perfume industry.

So now you have idea which kind of rose you should plant in your backyard!

Along with the sunscreen lotion are these three Althea Petal Velvet Powder, which are truly one of those good face powder I’ve used so far. You may check my previous review here.

They gave me the three variants – the Petal Velvet Powder in Translucent, and Warm Beige, and their special 3rd anniversary edition in pink lavender.

So after cleansing my face, and applying the Petal Velvet Sunaway sunscreen, I apply a few dabs of this Petal Velvet Powder. I like the velvety-finished look that isn’t shiny either. Packaged in a small handy container which is awesome to store in my bag especially when I’ve on my trips (I don’t like carrying all my make-up stash).

Another thing – I can recycle the container! That is awesome right?!

They also gave me this cute holographic pouch that is perfect to stash my combination sunscreen lotion + powder, or store my sunglasses!

They know how to please their clients and I love these gifts!

Costs:

I admit these two products aren’t cheap in price, but not cheap on quality

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Petal Velvet Powder
This ALTHEA Petal Velvety Sunaway costs Php480.00 (approx. US$9) for a 55ml. Quite expensive that’ why am only using this for my face, neck and hands.

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway + Petal Velvet Powder
Same goes with the Petal Velvety Powder that cost Php210.00 (approx. US$4) in 3grams packaged.

Verdict:

The Petal Velvet Sunaway sunscreen is a huge help for me to protect my skin in this possible sun damage. Definitely I will buy soon after I’ve finished this free bottle.

Those three petal velvet powder are also cool to use – they are handy and give me a fresh velvety finished. Plus I can recycle the containers. If only they have those powder in large containers that can refill to this then much better.

Have you tried any skincare with rose extracts? Which are you favorites?

xoxo, Blair
