Get cheongsam style inspiration from Shanghai Tang Spring Summer 2014

As the Chinese New Year holidays draw closer, you know you’ll want to dress to impress.

So if the cheongsam (or qipao, if you would prefer) is your festive “must-wear”, be sure to check out Shanghai Tang’s Spring Summer 2014 line for wardrobe ideas that you can wear far beyond the Lunar New Year.

The shawl-like pleating on the shoulders of these dresses is a fun, contemporary twist on the classic mandarin collar, while the wool crepe skirt gives the dress a faux two-piece look — the knot belt cinches the entire outfit elegantly together too.

For another fun way to wear the cheongsam style, try colour-blocking with the metallic bamboo jacquard separates from Shanghai Tang, as seen above (on the far right). The qipao-style top features a more comfortable, relaxed fit while the jacquard skirt is ruched up at the side to create a modern, new silhouette.

You can’t go wrong with a new white shirt either ‒ already a hot trend for Spring Summer 2014. One of the top picks this season is a lace peplum top adorned with jade buttons; surely a cute new way to wear chinois chic.

The Shanghai Tang Spring Summer 2014 collection is now available in stores.
