Walking along the street, even on the sunniest of days, I often find myself looking down. I’m not searching for stray pennies (and if I stumbled one geez it’s a lucky day!) to enhance my luck or even, prudent Manila’s urbanite that I am, avoiding eye contact with potential loons – I’m looking at people’s feet.
Or, more accurately, their shoes.
Some people obsess about food, others about love, still more about money.
I am enamored of shoes.
At this particular moment in history, my penchant is not especially unique – plenty of women, and not a few men, are mad about shoes. Complete strangers of both sexes have run up to me and begged me to tell them where I bought my shoes.
This happens often enough that I can comfortably tell myself that there’s something unusual about my interest except perhaps its intensity. Not everyone, I understand, is willing to dodge work-bound pedestrians for a block to get a second look at a pair of pumps.
(When I find myself doing this I rationalize that it’s all in the name of research).
But my curiosity is not motivated by aesthetics alone. I may admire a finely curved instep for its sheer beauty, but the real reason I find shoes fascinating is that they are so revealing. Look at a person’s shoes and you can guess her emotional state; her goals and expectations; whether her self-esteem is high or low; and most significantly. Her attitude toward sex. Some types of women’s shoes, such as loafers, sneakers, or any vintage shoes, are sexually neutral.
iconic Audrey Hepburn and her vintage shoes
Just like passing by at the nearest brick-and-mortar, online shopping is something that I have been fascinated about. I’ve visited the online shoe shop, FSJShoes.com for vintage shoes inspired by my favorite icon Audrey Hepburn.

DeleteI would have to say the Mary Jane's are my favorite vintage shoe because it goes with everything. I like to dress them up with a mid-length skirt, shorts and even cropped pants. My favorite vintage color is the red and black and white. I can't wait until they make a new style with a hint of the 60's soon.
